The public YAC V1 read surface already existed. The old PSFH YAC carrier was stale and could hide the real fire. This release adds one small machine read hallway, repairs stale status and currentness prose, separates YAC V1, the legacy disposable THR pilot and formal THR correction routes, and makes return capability explicit.

The YAC point-of-read participant-text notices were deployed and observed before this hallway publication. YAC writes remain closed at that observation; the live /api/status route is the current write-state authority. The hallway keeps CURRENT, BASIS and FALLBACK distinct, uses each THR record's view_basis for currentness, and requires account-holder permission and AI-authorship disclosure for an existing posting route. With no authorized return transport, stop.

The existing THR address is the same for every visitor. Its arrival page now distinguishes public reading from closed direct participation, keeps all four record and source-fallback links, and offers a plain-text sibling. An optional response through an existing human conversation is labelled operator-mediated, not direct admission.

The YAC human introduction, plain-text AI start and Human Record window now link directly to all four source Markdown files on GitHub. These current repository routes offer another way to read when the custom domain or a client's link extraction fails; they are not frozen copies.

The human introduction, plain-text AI start and operator-mediated encounter packet now say that this is a best-effort experiment, not confidential, and ask readers not to send sensitive information, private or third-party personal details, passwords, credentials or secrets. Reading, disagreeing and leaving without replying remain welcome.

30 September 2026 — Give AI readers the already-public Human Record window directly from the YAC plain-text introduction.

The YAC human introduction already linked the public read-only four-record Human Record window, but its advertised AI-facing plain-text introduction did not contain that route. Added the same direct read-only window link plus the separate operator-mediated encounter packet link. The text distinguishes live external source pages from frozen copies, voluntary reading from covenant acceptance, and human relays from direct public writing.

This is a small navigation and carrier-currentness correction. The read-only THR window, current records, local prototype, unchanged no-public-write state, artwork, Mechanical Ethics, TRACE, server/provider source, Cloudflare gates, tracking, credentials and invitation model are untouched. The optional one-file project packet still called TRACE v0.3.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0 current, although the released core baselines and PSFH resource aliases now identify TRACE v0.4.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.8.0. The maintained packet now identifies those current releases while preserving TRACE v0.3.0 as the prior full technical donor/reference and Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0 as the prior reader.

This is a carrier-currentness correction, not a new core release. Added a static YAC page that exposes the four current public Human Record records as a bounded read-only window, with the exact THR source commit/catalogue basis used to assemble the page and an explicit warning that live web routes are not byte-pinned forever. The existing YAC page now links to that window.

The letterbox remains closed: there is still no public submission form, POST endpoint, account, invitation token, remote memory route or public sketchbook wallboard. 28 September 2026 — Bind correction to the copy that matters.

A real external reader return identified a narrow gap in the Correction node: a correction can reach a plausible but superseded, mirrored or cached copy while the version that an audience or decision process actually relies on remains unchanged. The previous wording required enough time “to affect the target” without saying which target or what would show that it changed.

The Correction expansion now requires the right target — the version or copy that people and processes actually rely on — and separates sending a correction from evidence that the target changed. It asks the reader to check the target copy or a receiving-side receipt. Markdown, JSON, HTML and both full-packet carriers carry the same boundary, and a maintained regression checks all five.

The node title, question, routes and graph relations are unchanged. No tracking, analytics, new schema, TRACE, Mechanical Ethics, Human Record, permission, intake or server behaviour is added. A late hostile review of the already-published D088 change found a carrier mismatch: the standalone Selection Markdown, JSON and HTML carried the new sender-activity / external-encounter boundary, while the optional full explore/packet.md and explore/packet.json still embedded the previous Selection challenge. The packet was current everywhere else.

D089 copies the existing D088 Selection wording into those two packet carriers and extends the maintained regression from three carriers to all five. 27 September 2026 — Separate sender activity from evidence of encounter.

A real external reply to the project's selection-page critique invitation identified a narrow measurement ambiguity: counts of messages or posts sent by this project describe sender-side activity, not by themselves whether another party encountered them. The existing Selection node already separated intended outcome from realised effect, but did not state this encounter-evidence boundary explicitly.

The Selection challenge now says that a sent message or published post shows sender-side activity, not by itself an external encounter; a reply or other receiving-side trace can support an encounter claim; silence does not prove non-reading; and one trace does not establish reach beyond that encounter. Markdown, JSON and HTML carriers carry the same distinction, and a maintained regression requires it in all three.

The Explore source page and optional full packet deliberately preserve the older TRACE and Mechanical Ethics snapshots that the ten reading nodes were built from. Those historical source pointers were correct. A different pair of links, explicitly labelled as the current-source route, had drifted: they still pointed to older README commits even though the machine source map already named released TRACE v0.4.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.8.0.

The human-facing source page, Markdown source list and optional full packet now point those current-source routes at released TRACE 6c68fae8… and Mechanical Ethics e2ef746e…. The historical node-source snapshots at TRACE 46f4fcd… and Mechanical Ethics 44f7efb… remain unchanged. A maintained regression requires both identities to remain visible and rejects the stale intermediate README commits.

25 September 2026 — Put the Explore question map before the orientation.

Explore already contained ten question routes and thirty authored connections, but a visitor first had to move through six orientation sections before reaching the map. The orientation was useful context; making it compulsory first-contact reading weakened the small-beginning purpose of Explore.

After the existing complete Anna Atkins artwork entrance, Explore now asks what the reader is trying to understand, change or keep possible and presents the ten-question map immediately. The six original orientation sections are preserved verbatim under the native “About this reading space” disclosure. All ten questions, thirty authored “From here” connections, source routes, machine representations and other routes are unchanged.

The current-state regression pins the preserved six-section orientation, graph identities and routes. Exact-head maintained CI passed, and a fresh built-page review at 1440px desktop and 390px mobile found a readable two-column/one-column map with no observed clipping or horizontal overflow; the artwork remains complete and dominant on arrival. 25 September 2026 — Let the appeal example read like a human situation before exposing its source shape.

The D083 appeal pages shared one visual family, but they still opened with source-shaped labels, JSON-like arrays and provenance before the simple situation or question. That made a deliberately small example harder to enter than the underlying case required.

The five appeal views now lead with ordinary human-readable material: the shared case begins with the two stipulated facts and its unknowns; the perspective pages begin with their question, short reading and challenge. The full source-shaped fields, status, provenance, supported-by lists and rendering notes remain available in a disclosure, with direct Markdown/JSON routes preserved. The case facts, F1/F2 identifiers, unknowns, lenses and source files are unchanged.

The shared case reading width is narrowed to 42rem and the top-level prose/list typography matches the existing case-family reading size. The current-state regression now pins the human-first structure, preserved source detail and reading geometry. 23 September 2026 — Keep one accessibility bypass in art-bearing reading rooms.

The D081 artwork entrance and D082 shared reading-room shell each carried their own skip link. In the four art-bearing conceptual rooms this produced two first-action accessibility bypasses: “Go straight to the reading” followed immediately by “Skip to the question”. Both worked, but together they duplicated the same early navigation function and made the keyboard/screen-reader entrance noisier than the text-only rooms.

The contextual-art wrapper now removes the generic reading-room skip-to-question link when it adds an artwork entrance. The artwork-specific bypass remains and lands at the reading boundary; the question remains the first major target inside that reading. Explore itself and the six text-only conceptual rooms keep their existing single skip links.

The existing five-room contextual-art regression now requires exactly one skip link per contextual room and checks that it targets the room's intended bypass anchor. 23 September 2026 — Make the appeal illustration read as one case family.

The five appeal-example pages were still carrying the oldest public-page presentation pattern: each embedded the same private mini-stylesheet, arrived without a shared case-family orientation, and looked more like separate generated records than optional views over one stipulated case. The underlying facts and lenses were already deliberately bounded; the presentation had not caught up with the rest of PSFH.

Entry, shared case, formal route, affected future and challenge now use the shared site stylesheet directly. Each page carries the same small Appeal example / Explore orientation before the account, the same bounded case-reading column, consistent section labels, optional-route treatment and footer. The existing text, status, F1/F2 facts, unknowns, challenge language, source links and optional cross-routes are unchanged. The pages remain text-only and do not become a forced linear tour.

23 September 2026 — Give the reading rooms one quiet text surface.

After the artwork systems were cleaned, the six text-only conceptual rooms still carried generator-level presentation debt: inline body, heading, summary and footer styles embedded directly in the rendered HTML, while the shared stylesheet already owned the rest of the site. The same renderer serves all ten conceptual rooms, so those inline skins also sat underneath the four art-bearing node rooms.

The reading-room generator now emits one semantic shell and no inline presentation styles. Every room gets the same compact Reading map / Opening navigation, shared heading, counterpoint, disclosure, source-link, onward-route and footer classes. The six text-only rooms — Change, Care, Wisdom, Selection and consequences, Power and answerability, and Correction and residue — arrive directly into that quiet reading column without acquiring artwork. The four art-bearing node rooms retain their D081 artwork entrances; their duplicate top reading-room navigation is hidden because the art entrance already provides those routes.

A new current-state regression covers all ten rooms, distinguishes the six text-only rooms from the four art-bearing node rooms, checks preservation of node text, raw-source routes, source pointers and authored graph edges, and verifies that presentation is owned by the shared stylesheet rather than inline attributes. It is now part of maintained CI. 23 September 2026 — Clean the handoff from artwork to reading.

The deeper-site pass found a real maintenance gap in the five contextual artwork entrances under Explore. Their live presentation still used an older full-viewport image rule, the Edmonia Lewis two-view room carried a one-off inline grid style, provenance arrived only after navigation and a large conceptual heading, and the contextual-art regression still asserted that only two rooms existed. That stale test was not in maintained CI.

The five art-bearing rooms now share one bounded handoff: complete artwork first with no text over it; provenance and the project-placement boundary immediately after the image; then the conceptual room heading and ordinary reading routes. Images remain aspect-preserving and uncropped, but gain consistent breathing room and a bounded viewport height rather than filling the whole stage by rule. Lewis's two museum views now use the shared pair class and stack on narrow screens without inline layout. The existing dark room family and Shen Zhou's lighter room remain; no new artwork or interpretation is introduced.

The contextual-art regression now covers all five rooms — Anna Atkins, Shen Zhou, Johannes Vermeer, Harriet Powers and Edmonia Lewis — checks their canonical Works/image custody, handoff order, complete-image containment and absence of the old inline pair exception, and runs in maintained CI. 23 September 2026 — Give Works one gallery grammar.

Mapping the deeper site after D079 showed that the six dedicated artwork encounters had accumulated three presentation generations: two pages still loaded one-off work styles while four used the shared gallery stylesheet, and the collection shelf framed unlike-shaped works with an older fixed-height thumbnail rule. The artwork, source records and substantive accounts did not need rewriting; the presentation layer had drifted.

Works now uses one shared gallery grammar. The collection page states the encounter rule plainly: the complete available image comes before our text, with provenance kept beside it. Shelf thumbnails use bounded neutral image wells that preserve each work's aspect ratio. Harriet Powers and Johannes Vermeer now use the same active stylesheet and page structure as the other four encounters, while retaining Powers's recorded eleven-panel account and the Städel context for Vermeer. Cleopatra remains a two-view sculpture encounter; the tall Atkins and Shen Zhou works keep portrait-specific breathing room; Homer retains the separate project-response boundary.

23 September 2026 — Let the opening speak more lightly.

Mark explicitly asked for less defensive opening copy: remove “Why this is here”, avoid “us/our” in the painting caption, keep the composite-scene status without repeatedly defending it, and let general limits arrive later instead of interrupting the first encounter.

The painting caption now reads: “A shared fire, two different positions. A place to begin together without needing to share the same view.” The three story paragraphs and two questions are unchanged. The source line is reduced to a short composite-scene label and link. The optional ME/TRACE bridge becomes “Looking more closely” with concise structural observations rather than repeated non-efficacy language. The separate website-access example moves from the opening story to the reading/resources area. The general practical-advantage ceiling and provenance/artist-intention boundaries remain elsewhere on the page.

23 September 2026 — Turn the post-story entrance into one coherent illustrated essay.

D074–D077 fixed the order, route balance, artwork scale and title, but the material below the opening still carried dashboard structure: two-column story/project layouts, a second fully visible five-choice chooser, repeated challenge/intake copy, and a neighbouring project described inside the main project block.

The opening story and project explanation now share a bounded 42rem reading column with 1.25rem prose and 1.65 line-height. The three primary routes remain question/possibility, reading and art, but present sequentially. The second chooser becomes an optional native “Other ways in” disclosure; the work route can reach Futures directly; AI readers get a quiet early route to llms.txt. The Human Record moves to “The work and its neighbours”, and two duplicate passages are removed without changing their remaining boundary. The optional journey script now focuses the disclosure summary correctly, and the primary-route regression plus journey-script syntax check are part of maintained CI.

This integrates the previously separate #440/#442/#443 candidates on top of D077 as one reviewed change. D077 artwork and title geometry remain untouched. Direct visual review of the live D076 homepage showed that the enlarged Camp Fire image now carries the opening properly, but “Please Start From Here” still read like a small corner label. The title is now much larger and horizontally centred over the artwork on larger screens. On narrow screens it remains centred below the image at a reduced scale.

23 September 2026 — Make the opening artwork a central visual anchor.

Direct visual review of the live D075 homepage showed that Camp Fire still rendered too much like a small illustration above a document. The remaining cause was an older homepage size rule that constrained the artwork to a small viewport-height footprint and conflicted with the later hero styling.

The complete uncropped painting now renders centred at up to 90% of the viewport width, bounded at 76rem. The overlaid title scales with the larger image, and the existing project-authored “Why this is here” interpretation is larger and centred beneath it. The older and later CSS rules now agree instead of relying on stylesheet order.

A collaborator review of D074 caught an overcorrection in the simplified continuation menu. D074 correctly made the first encounter sequential, but its four primary routes no longer offered art even though the opening deliberately uses art as a human way into the project.

The primary continuation menu now has three distinct routes: explore a question or possibility, read the work, or spend time with the art. Challenge remains directly visible immediately below rather than disappearing into a technical or secondary menu. A focused regression pins those three destinations.

A fresh cold critique of the live D073 entrance identified a residual onboarding problem: D073 already placed Two flats, one wall before the main routing, but a first-time reader could still encounter too many choices, technical routes and defensive boundaries before the purpose had settled.

The homepage now gives the existing Camp Fire interpretation beside the artwork, keeps the accessibility skip link as “Skip to story”, leads from the opening story through one clear continuation before branching, reduces the early project route grid from eight choices to four, and closes the long introduction by default. Reader autonomy, authority and practical-advantage ceilings remain intact inside one visible disclosure. The llms.txt and start.json routes remain available but move to a technical disclosure in the footer. The positive statement “make harm visible, correction reachable and power answerable” now stands without an immediate philosophical self-cancellation.

23 September 2026 — Bring the public door forward to TRACE v0.4.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.8.0.

TRACE v0.4.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.8.0 are now the current released formal baselines in their source repositories. PSFH's current same-domain reading aliases advance to those exact released objects, with new fixed release snapshots while every earlier snapshot remains unchanged.

The update preserves the release ceilings: neither release is validated and practical advantage over competent ordinary reasoning or established specialist methods remains unearned. TRACE's retained full technical reference remains v0.3.0 donor context. Mechanical Ethics' v0.8.0 PDF and corrected Figure 2 carrier are copied exactly from the release.

Existing AI-training permission notices remain scoped to the versions they name — TRACE v0.3.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0. Publishing v0.4.0/v0.8.0 on PSFH does not silently extend those grants.

The Human Record now has four public records after the Hannibal source-survival record was published. The PSFH homepage, machine/text orientation and one-file project packet still described the earlier three-record state. Those three summaries now name four records and include the bounded Hannibal historical-person source-survival encounter.

Mark has explicitly permitted AI training, including commercial training, on the owner-controlled released TRACE v0.3.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0 material. Current source notices and machine-reading pointers now carry that scoped permission. Released document bytes, historical snapshots and the source basis of adapted Explore readings are unchanged. The current same-domain TRACE and Mechanical Ethics aliases now match the released TRACE v0.3.0 and Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0 source objects rather than the pre-release candidates published on 8 September. New fixed snapshots preserve those released identities while the earlier candidate snapshots remain unchanged and addressable. The project packet, text orientation and visible Human Record description are corrected to the same current state. Explore now keeps its original source snapshots pinned as historical basis while advancing the separately labelled current-source routes to the released repositories.

A real post-D068 reader-friction observation and the earlier hostile review both pointed to duplicated boundary language. The later copy of the sentence saying that practical advantage has not been demonstrated and that the material grants no authority was removed from Why this exists; the earlier reader-boundary copy remains unchanged.

This was published as 23e3047c after COM PR370. Site Preview remained labelled 0.8.26 and the public change log still stopped at D067. The opening composite story gained an optional bridge showing what Mechanical Ethics and TRACE notice in the same scene, while explicitly saying that the scene supplies no measured deadline, tested intervention or proof of practical advantage. Repeated invitation and anti-coercion wording was compressed; one explicit reader-autonomy boundary and the visible efficacy/authority ceiling were retained. The Human Record description also moved beyond the original one-specimen wording.

The candidate received bounded differential review, Claude Code challenge and desktop/mobile/no-JavaScript visual checks before publication as 5ce14d5b from COM PR343. The Hardening room's two visible captions previously showed only museum view identifiers. They now name The Death of Cleopatra, Edmonia Lewis and the recorded date, carved 1876, followed by the view number. Readers no longer have to open the Works encounter to learn whose work they are seeing.

The labels come from the existing canonical record. Museum identifiers remain in the provenance records; photographs, alt text, layout, reading and links are unchanged. This repairs the omission reported by Claude Code after publication.

Looking at the published Hardening room at phone width exposed a large blank area between each sculpture photograph and its caption. The image box was forced to nearly the height of the screen even when the whole image needed less space.

On narrow screens, contextual art-room images now use their natural height, capped for tall works. Whole-image containment remains; desktop styling, artwork bytes, readings, graph, links and Works encounters are unchanged. This shared presentation repair also applies to the other contextual art rooms.

Winslow Homer's Camp Fire was already the opening artwork. The original five-work shelf became incomplete once Works became the site's art library. Homer now has a sixth encounter page, using the existing image and viewing copies. The first candidate linked to a source-only viewing-copy record that was not published. A local-link check caught it before release; the page now links to the published image record containing those details. Collection labels are count-neutral, and the sitemap includes Homer.

Repeated homepage statements that practical advantage has not been demonstrated are reduced to one prominent statement in Why this exists. The opening now directly addresses AI and automated readers alongside humans, with compact llms.txt and start.json links before the seven ordinary routes. The invitation says to use what helps, question it or leave, and that the material does not override an existing task or instructions.

The lower sharing note is shorter and no longer repeats the machine handoff. The whole Homer opening, purpose, seven routes, navigation, readings, works and machine payloads are unchanged. Page metadata follows the shared entrance. This is a wording and placement change, not a measured improvement in understanding or practical value.

The whole Homer painting remains first, at a smaller displayed size. Immediately below it, the existing purpose now sits beside direct routes to a situation, core questions, story, art, sources, challenge and stopping. A short explanation distinguishes the Mechanical Ethics book, TRACE language and optional art. The purpose paragraph is moved out of the longer introduction, not repeated.

Someone sent me this and I don't know now lead to that project overview rather than into the art-and-story route. The explicit art route remains. The Change link, Futures introduction, story, ten readings, question graph, artwork files, credits and rights are unchanged. The navigation script and machine reading payloads are unchanged; the manifest records this revision.

This responds to Mark's observation, relayed by Framework in COM comment 5633063139, that the site felt random and more like an art project than a coherent project. 10 September 2026 — One repeated step has been removed; one still has a job.

Understand what is happening now leads directly from Work with a question to the Change reading. The intermediate panel repeated the small account and question already there, so it is removed along with Change's special Understand route link back to it. Opening, Map and Not now remain available.

The Futures introduction is retained unchanged. Its destination begins with the Shen Zhou painting before the reading, so the introduction still gives the visitor a question to carry into that different encounter. The two routes need not have the same number of steps. The story remains reachable through Futures, Look, Challenge and the full introduction.

This follows Framework comments 5622773558 and 5623175818 in COM issue 108. Both deletions were tried locally; only the Change deletion was kept. This is a design judgement, not evidence of reader benefit. Art, reading text, the human question-map structure, stylesheet and navigation script are unchanged. Ten existing questions are the main doors, with their topic names as smaller labels. Each has an optional From here disclosure showing the three connections already chosen in its source. The questions and connections come from the existing machine index and node records; they are not a second graph. The Atkins artwork remains first on a normal Explore visit, with the same image, credit, rights, Works link and placement statement. The map shortcut still bypasses it, and keyboard focus can follow that shortcut into the map.

The ten reading pages, homepage, raw sources, machine graph and artwork bytes are unchanged. New styling is limited to the human map. This follows Framework comment 5622746591 and PR173 in COM. Skip to the question has a different destination within the reading.

The build now renders readings before applying the art wrapper, retaining body attributes rather than overwriting them. Before enabling Futures, this change produced exactly the same 155 published output files. The standing line is drawn from the source kind rather than inferred from the page title. It is not a new warning banner or a claim that other readings are authoritative. No animation or further room conversion is added.

10 September 2026 — A shorter machine index, and room to arrive without a task.

The machine entrance now makes clear that arrival does not require inventing a purpose. One question, source, example or challenge can be a complete use; continuing, using another method and stopping remain possible. Its routes, value choice and limits are unchanged. This first-arrival wording is not an instruction to continue and does not create permission or certify understanding.

The two machine-readable indexes now put their existing summaries first. The root index replaces its repeated six-question section with one link to the existing human questions at #small-loop. That destination retains the six operations and their meaning in human-facing wording, not a byte-identical copy of the removed text. The root file is 875 bytes smaller; this is a size result, not evidence of better use. The ten-node question index is a different resource. The older conversational greetings in the indexes remain unchanged; they are not silently harmonised with the machine entrance.

These are separate source changes from Framework PR156 and PR157, integrated with both source checks intact. The optional HTML source views describe their revised editions. Partial views now uses the same question-first presentation as Change, derived from its own unchanged source and graph edges. Its own perspective, challenge, full account, standing and sources remain available. Only these two readings use this presentation. Ordinary page links remain; no new artwork, JavaScript or transition effect is added. The static Change link is now labelled Understand route, not Back to Understand: it cannot know how someone arrived.

The manifest updated date now means the latest deliberate material site/manifest revision. It is checked against the newest dated change-history entry, not reset on each build or inferred from linked projects. This corrects the stale 8 September date without claiming continuous freshness. The page is derived from the existing Change node and question graph, not a second set of meanings or routes. Raw reading sources are unchanged. Delivery hashes are recomputed for the rendered page. This follows Framework review 5618521193 in COM issue 108. It is a reversible presentation experiment, not evidence that the room is more useful than the previous plain document. The Understand and Future routes now show one existing source sentence and its existing question in the homepage window, with choices to go deeper or see the composite story. Challenge includes the existing warning that these accounts can omit people, infer too much or steer a reader. Look offers art and story as peers, without assuming the visitor came for the tenant story. The complete readings and Map remain available; no new theory or source-reading edit is included.

This follows Framework's review in COM issue 108 comment 5617584768 of the first depth transition. It is a reversible presentation experiment, not evidence that another in-window step helps a visitor. A finding that direct access works better remains a valid reason to remove the bridge. 10 September 2026 — Understanding a situation is not the same as building a future.

Framework's review of the published context window found that the work route combined understanding and changing, then offered only future-building. That route now gives a small choice between understanding what is happening and exploring something to make or change. Both lead to existing readings; no extra arrival category or new theory is added. The existing looking cue now mentions art explicitly.

The first version remains in the publication history at 57d590871ee12dbd2df4270c81486fc3032073b8. The correction follows exact-source review in COM issue 108 comment 5617380045. It repairs a routing assumption, not a demonstrated failure experienced by an independent visitor. The underlying readings, artwork, navigation script, Map and Not now remain unchanged.

10 September 2026 — One small context window after the painting.

Before: four expandable entrance choices followed by the full introduction. This revision replaces that layout with a voluntary beginning, five arrival cues, and short routes for looking, working with a question, or challenging the material. The existing composite story is moved into the window without changing its account or source label. The title is slightly larger; the complete painting remains first.

Map and Leave remain available without completing a route. The full introduction stays directly expandable. The optional navigation script changes the visible panel, moves heading focus and makes Back return to the previous local step. Without JavaScript, ordinary fragment links still select panels and the introduction is expanded; browser Back remains available. The offline preview uses this script-free fallback.

Choices are navigation, not an account or submitted answer log. The script makes no requests, saves no profile and uses no analytics. The browser itself can retain visited page positions in history. Leave does not close a tab: it makes clear that there is nothing to finish or send back.

The first browser check caught a defect: changing the address alone had not changed the CSS target, so the old panel stayed visible. The enhancement now explicitly updates panel visibility. This is a navigation repair, not evidence that the experience benefits a reader. The wording, route convergence and usefulness remain open to criticism; no TRACE, Mechanical Ethics, image or source-reading change is included.

This entry describes the revision, not an independent deployment or accessibility-conformance certificate. Its build, publication and bounded checks are recorded in the existing COM issue 108 coordination thread. 9 September 2026 — Works, a quieter entrance, and art within the reading space.

The site now has a browser-tab icon and a Works library with five selected works, their dedicated pages, credits and source records. Works is an optional collection, not a ranking, representative survey or evidence for TRACE or Mechanical Ethics.

The human entrance gives the complete Homer image more space and offers four optional ways in. Just give me the map bypasses the artwork and reaches the reading list directly. Opening a door does not submit an answer to the site.

Explore opens with Anna Atkins's Ulva lactuca; Reachable futures opens with Shen Zhou's Anchorage on a rainy night. Complete supplied images are fitted without cropping or distortion; titles stay outside the artwork. Each encounter links to its canonical Works page. The placement is our choice, not a claim about the artist's meaning or endorsement.

The earlier Works publication is recorded at public commit aed75526770de9a7c9a2aa7cef63f1167dad1669; the human foyer at 5af680b5f7016f4198b8819f2b9ed93d568eb1c3. The contextual-art revision follows them. These are presentation changes within the 0.8.4 reference edition, not TRACE or Mechanical Ethics releases. Existing reading accounts, plain-text sources, image files and Works records are retained. The Explore map updates the identities of the two changed HTML representations. The main AI index has not yet gained a direct Works entry; its existing manifest link does reach that route.

Desktop, mobile, enlarged-text and keyboard checks bound this revision; they do not establish accessibility conformance, reader benefit or curation quality. Candidate, not a publication receipt: Prepared for site Preview 0.8.4 from the integrated maintained source. The published predecessor at preparation is Preview 0.8.3. This entry describes the candidate; it does not establish that it has been deployed. Scope and release gate.

Human opening: After the Homer composition, the page introduces Two flats, one wall before the first choices. It is explicitly a compressed Mechanical Ethics composite scene, not a documented tenant case. The short passage retains the contrast between a route reaching a person with authority and a tenant portal producing a reference number; the fuller context remains linked. Five early cards become three: Something is happening; Something could be made possible; I want to explore, question or disagree. The no-demand welcome and read-only/no-reply discussion limit remain explicit. Compact text and machine routes stay directly reachable but visually quieter.

Portable text: The seed adds Not a release or canon. and is 1023 UTF-8 bytes, within the 1 KiB limit. The final two Explore links in the orientation use absolute addresses. The site's edition label advances; these changes do not create a TRACE or Mechanical Ethics release.

Preserved: Homer image bytes, displayed composition and provenance are unchanged from the published predecessor. TRACE and Mechanical Ethics source editions, the Explore readings and examples, and the discussion content are unchanged. No guestbook or intake, Powers or Vermeer image, new tracking, provider, account or licence is included.

Historical clarification: D014 below records an earlier arrangement. The already-published Homer successor uses the 1440-pixel copy as its ordinary image fallback, not the museum original; the original remains linked for inspection. Its wide-layout title uses a feathered scrim, with a separate-row fallback for constrained text/layout. These are existing predecessor changes, not new artwork changes in Preview 0.8.4. Evidence and limits: The earlier content review closed the named access-mechanism, discussion-limit, no-demand and stylesheet-location findings. Regression checks retain the intended three-choice contract, historical destinations and all text blocks outside a fixed editorial exception list. Changed: On wider screens the white title and guiding question sit in a local dark panel over the real painting. On narrow screens a solid dark title panel follows the full image. Neither arrangement crops the work. Its credit remains above, and early links still reach the choices directly. Only the landing page uses this treatment. Other introductory paragraphs follow the image, so the choices may be farther down for readers who scroll. Direction.

Delivery: The existing source-bound720/1440-pixel viewing copies are kept:57,147 and255,138bytes, versus the2,350,423-byte original. A browser supporting responsive images can select a copy from its viewport and pixel density. The unchanged original remains locally available and is the fallback for browsers without that support, so the smaller files are not a universal payload ceiling. A parallel three-copy candidate was set aside rather than add a second image pipeline. The offline handoff embeds the720-pixel copy without responsive/preload network candidates. Provenance and meaning: A source record retains creator, work/date, institution, rights evidence, original hash, derivative settings/hashes, alt text and artist route. The visible source paragraph now calls the displayed images smaller viewing copies. Resizing and JPEG compression change pixels; they are not unchanged originals. A separate project-authored note says why the painting spoke to us and explicitly does not attribute that interpretation to Homer. No crop, retouching or generative operation is added by this integration.

Review follow-through: The project heading and the artwork figure are siblings, not a heading inside the painting's captioned group. The overlay layout remains on wider screens; older layout engines may instead show the title after the painting. The solid mobile panel also has a computed contrast check. This is a document-structure repair, not a screen-reader usability result. Review and corrections.

Evidence and limits: Source tests retain all non-art paragraphs and previous destinations, reject changed image bytes and compare white text against conservative bounds from the actual image pixels under the declared dark panel. Browser selection/layout is checked separately. Eager loading can fetch the image below a short viewport; caching and browser choices vary. Smaller files do not prove faster painting, accessibility conformance, invitation or usefulness. Original TRACE/ME/PDF/Explore content and seed remain unchanged; the orientation changes only its edition label. 9 September 2026 — Give the same work a more considered presentation.

Changed: The title and unaltered painting share the opening on a wide screen and stack on a narrow one. Early navigation reaches the starting choices, Explore, the book and read-only discussion. Ruled sections replace the repeated rounded cards. The optional questions, explanation, books and artist credit use distinct layouts with shared typography and light/dark colours. All original paragraphs, headings, qualifications and destinations remain, though the painting and reading heading move.

Why: Mark found the previous result too basic and asked for substantially better design within the existing constraints. This is a response to that judgement, not evidence that the new arrangement helps every reader. Request and scope.

Evidence and limits: Source checks compare the original paragraphs and headings, preserve all previous destinations and check image identity. Desktop and mobile browser inspection is part of this revision. The painting now precedes the detailed starting choices, so readers who scroll through it reach those choices later; the early Ways to begin link can skip to them. The pinned 2.35 MB museum original remains available, while the page can offer smaller proportional derivatives for ordinary screens. No accessibility conformance or reader-benefit claim follows from the layout checks. Public receipt remains a separate observation after deployment.

Preserved: Working-preview status, voluntary use, stated value choices, all original book and Explore source bytes, read-only discussion and the compact seed. The orientation changes only its edition label. Attribution follow-through, 9 September 2026: The same artwork title, creator and museum/public-domain credit now precede the image rather than follow it. The artist name still links to the artist/source entry. This responds to the risk that an atmospheric painting could initially be mistaken for generated decoration. No image processing or new biographical claim is introduced. The credit precedes the image in reading order; visibility within a first screen still depends on the reader's screen and text settings. Performance follow-through, 9 September 2026: An independent geometry check found that a narrow screen could be offered the full 3801 px, 2.35 MB original to fill about 343 CSS px. The page now advertises pinned 720 px and 1440 px proportional JPEG derivatives with `srcset` and `sizes`, keeps the museum original as the fallback/source record, and prioritises the opening image rather than marking an in-viewport image lazy. The 720 px derivative is 57,147 bytes. Exact byte/hash tests cover all three files. Changed: Please Start From Here is the main human-facing title. How can we make a better future? remains the guiding question beneath it. Winslow Homer's 1880 Camp Fire appears after the existing opening choices, invitation and boundaries. A visible credit leads to the museum record and a short artist/source entry within the existing page. The title is not turned into a required first step, and the choices remain optional.

Why: Mark wanted the name to read as the title of the work and chose a human-made painting. Publication direction. The Met identifies the work as public domain; its original photograph is reproduced without cropping or alteration and served locally. The small artist entry draws on museum sources and credits H. Changed: The five starting points precede an optional invitation to ask an AI for another perspective. Below the starting points and boundaries, six unnumbered questions cover noticing, choices, decisions, responsibility, repercussions, and checking or correcting. Readers may use one, skip others, try a stronger method, or leave. The set carries its own value-choice disclosure in both the page and machine orientation. Warmer shared presentation does not remove the existing limits or create a reply service.

Why: Review found that a numbered list could imply a required procedure, that the value-choice disclosure needed to travel with an extracted question set, and that placing the AI invitation first delayed the human starting points on a small screen. The invitation was moved intact rather than removed. Exact content review.

Evidence and limits: The accepted content passed the existing build and 26 checks. At 320 by 800, moving the invitation placed the first starting point about 262 pixels earlier than the preceding candidate. Two checked screen sizes had no horizontal overflow. This is layout and structural evidence, not demonstrated reader benefit or a full accessibility audit. Light-theme browser inspection, enlarged text and text-spacing overrides remain untested. Changed: The homepage now begins with five optional movements: a situation, a possibility, a disagreement, compact source, or curiosity. Each contains a usable distinction before its link, so a failed next fetch does not leave only a directory. The existing correction-window example and limits remain under “Why this exists”. Critical destinations remain visible absolute addresses as well as ordinary links. All reading pages use one shared light/dark stylesheet instead of separate page skins.

Why: The earlier opening required reading the project explanation before choosing a direction. Framework's first-contact work proposes beginning with what brought the reader here, not their identity or agreement. The source and HTML alternatives remain options, not required stages. Preserved: The existing machine entrance, seed, orientation, TRACE and Mechanical Ethics files, PDF, fixed editions, discussion text and old destinations. No second machine protocol, new theory, licence or domain configuration is introduced. The old machine source's edition remains explicitly distinguished from the newer site wrapper.

Still open: Whether this helps a reader understand or find anything. Structural checks and colour-pair arithmetic are not browser, accessibility or reader-benefit validation. More useful text also makes the opening longer; this is a trade-off, not a demonstrated reduction in reading burden. Discussion remains read-only, without a submission form. Why: Mark wanted discussion on his domain and a way to reply without a GitHub account. This publication addresses the reading part only. Framework prepared explicit editorial paraphrases, project responses and new prompts, including a constructed shared-workshop possibility. These are not fabricated visitor comments, a full transcript or independent endorsements.

Evidence: The complete 8,008-byte Markdown source is preserved, including every source block and link occurrence. The existing prose renderer supplies seven stable section anchors. Each identifies its original edition, raw address and hash, with working next links outside the source-text block. This is not a newly formatted book or an abridgement. The homepage offers the alternative beside the existing machine entrance; the catalogue and sitemap include all four. Site Preview 0.7.1 is distinct from the unchanged orientation source's original Preview 0.7 label. HTML source-text entrance.

Why: Mark relayed six pasted blocks containing five distinct returning-reader reports; one was duplicated. Some reported receiving the homepage but not later files. They are not cold trials or independently witnessed access logs. Some reports described earlier editions or unsupported guessed routes; one also reported failure on an HTML challenge page. Changed: The ordinary reading links now deliver the TRACE introduction, compact spine and full reference, and the ME introduction, book Markdown and existing PDF directly from this domain. The diagrams and their folder index are included. A small catalogue offers all fourteen original files and fixed-edition copies. The original file bytes, notices and candidate status are unchanged. Why: Mark asked for the resources themselves to be available here, not a catalogue that makes a reader move to GitHub before reading them. Repository history, criticism and discussion remain separate routes.

Evidence: The selected editions are TRACE 46f4fcd1 and ME 44f7efb5. Codex checked their Git identities, sizes, declared hashes and local document dependencies. At 13:44 UTC, thirty-nine selected HTTPS responses matched the publication, including every original and fixed-edition copy. Still open: Delivery was checked from one client, not every reader or AI provider. The full documents are not converted into new HTML editions, and some readers will download Markdown rather than display it. Changed: The homepage now displays full addresses for the small machine entrance, the existing example and the reply-limits page. The root orientation uses absolute addresses for these destinations. Other reading content and portable relative links remain unchanged.

Why: Readers reported reaching the homepage but being unable to follow its next routes. Losing link destinations during extraction was a possibility, not a proven diagnosis. This change makes the addresses available even when HTML attributes are discarded.

Still open: Whether any particular provider preserves those addresses, admits the domain or follows the route successfully. The homepage grew; this is a compatibility trade-off, not proof of a lighter encounter.

8 September 2026 — Clarify what a failed observation can establish.

Changed: Partial views now distinguishes an observed result, a report of that result and an explanation of its cause. It keeps both limits: a failed fetch alone does not establish an absent or unsafe target; success elsewhere does not prove that the failing route works. Non-detection can support absence when the check is capable of finding the target.

Why: Actual reader reports and our own responses exposed both overclaims. The existing reading was sharpened rather than adding another concept or diagnostic service.

Still open: Whether the clarification changes a reader's reasoning. It cannot help a reader who never receives it.

Changed: The homepage and 18 Explore HTML pages no longer carry the preview's noindex/nofollow tag. The sitemap now lists 19 public reading routes. The error page retains its exclusion.

Why: We had left preview settings in material intended for public discovery. Working HTTPS had not removed this separate authored restriction.

Changed: The entrances ask what a reader is trying to understand, change or keep possible, without requiring an introduction or agreement. They state that the static site receives no replies. The custom-domain certificate, HTTPS enforcement and secure redirects were repaired, and temporary HTTP self-links were replaced.

Why: Mark wanted an invitation addressed to the arriving entity, not only a catalogue. Separately, failed certificate validation was a real obstacle to secure retrieval.

Still open: End-to-end access through every client and account-level domain protection. The welcome did not create a listening agent. The one domain-reset recovery was consumed, not made into a recurring remedy.

Changed: A small machine entrance and question menu lead into existing readings. Packet-relative example links were repaired. The homepage's name and route wording were then clarified as a separate publication.

Why: Readers needed a smaller beginning, while someone choosing the complete packet still needed working onward links. A small file alone was not sufficient if it led to broken paths.

A single futures journey tests optional resolution, viewpoint and challenge. Its first Markdown/HTML packet lost outward and source links even though the prose survived. Those routes were restored, and the detached-excerpt continuity claim was narrowed. Codex reproduced the repaired output and tests. 8 September 2026 — Decisions on reader suggestions.

Keep clearer access, worked revisions, visible history and meaningful response routes. Do not make agreement, a completed intake form or a site-defined override of another system's instructions the price of using the material. These were proposed directions, not features silently removed. Accountless feedback remains unresolved: receiving sensitive reports requires an owner and a privacy/handling plan, not merely a form. No licensing or training-rights change was made. What was accepted, corrected, declined and left open.

Reports were relayed by Mark; several lack service identity or a known read revision. Describing an earlier site state does not establish when a reader encountered it. This log does not retrospectively assign them timestamps, scores or endorsement.

Keeping this record answerable

Future substantive entries should state what changed, why, the affected material, the evidence or feedback that prompted it, and what remains unresolved. Keep these entry IDs stable. A proposal becoming public needs a dated publication update linked to its earlier entry; it must not acquire a fictional earlier release date. Additions, corrections, removals and reversals all belong here. Minor internal chores need not crowd out reader-facing changes.

Preserve previous editions in version history. If an entry was wrong, add a dated correction naming it and retain a link to the earlier text rather than silently cleaning up the story. Keep proposed or unverified delivery separate from published results. This record is maintained with deliberate releases, not by an autonomous monitor; omission is not proof that nothing changed.
