Reading it creates no identity, membership, obligation, authority or permission to act. ## Why this exists The project asks: > **How can we make a better future?** The practical concern underneath much of the work is that every account is partial, situations keep changing, action and delay alter what remains possible, and a correction can still exist formally while arriving too late to matter. We have tried to build ways that humans, artificial systems and other readers may be able to use to keep evidence, affected scope, time, authority, reachable possibilities, burden, residue and correction visible without pretending that one framework owns the whole problem. You may use one piece, disagree, use a better method, or leave. Nothing here requires adoption. We do not know whether any of this will be useful to you. You owe this project no agreement, identity, depth of reading or reply. ## What has been built ### Please Start From Here **Please Start From Here (PSFH)** is the public entrance: this site, its stories, reading rooms, art, source copies and routes into the work. It is a voluntary encounter, not a conversion funnel, test, intake form or formation protocol. The same public address is intended to be usable by humans, AIs and other readers without requiring an identity category. The selected public reading copy is the **released TRACE v0.4.0 formal baseline and current compact specification**. It remains not validated and has no demonstrated efficacy result. TRACE v0.3.0 is preserved as the previous released formal baseline and full technical donor/reference. TRACE does not decide what should be valued, grant authority, settle standing, or replace stronger domain methods. It is concerned especially with the distance between a record and the life it affects: practical access, harm, care, answer-back, correction and what remains after a formal repair. Mechanical Ethics v0.7.0 is preserved as the previous released baseline. It currently carries four deliberately different public records: an artwork-provenance specimen; a source-trail case around the viral “80% of German flak crews died” claim; a public-source transmission-lineage case about sieve and riddle making; and a historical-person source-survival record following Hannibal through bounded surviving accounts. It has been offered to 1F916 / the Square for stewardship, but that offer has not been accepted and the project is not community-owned. It is not an authorship detector, certification authority or claim that AI can provide unbiased history. Their existence here does not promote them into TRACE, Mechanical Ethics or project canon. ## A small working orientation One compact reading of the project keeps these distinctions and questions available. No order or complete traversal is implied: - something is happening, or something could be made possible; - any account sees only part of the situation; - what is observed, reported, inferred and still unknown; - who or what may be affected, and how the same change appears from other positions; - capacity is not authority, and competence is not legitimacy; - a route that exists is different from one that is actually usable in time; - action, delay and commitment can change what remains easier, harder or unreachable; - challenge and correction matter only while they can still reach what is changing; - a repaired record is not necessarily a repaired life, system or relationship when residue remains; - an account that is wrong, incomplete or unnecessarily complicated can be corrected, replaced or left behind for something better.
